Challenge
In addition to several outpatient initiatives, the VA Medical Center engaged the service-disabled-led team to design a one-story, private room 94-bed, three-phase Community Living Center and connector to the main facility.
Solution
After a feasibility study to determine the optimal location for the CLC and connecting corridor, the team continued design with Planetree and LEED tenets at the forefront of the healing environment’s design.
Results
CLCs provide a safe and enriching long-term care residence. By removing the CLC beds from the inpatient facility, VAMCs across the nation are tackling a care and housing challenge as veterans age and return from conflict.
