To allow Jackson Madison County General Hospital to serve their communities more fully, an enhanced Rehab Center of Excellence was determined to be a priority. The COE, destined for two floors of unoccupied space, needed a distinct look and feel from the main hospital while being complementary. Longer lengths of stay combined with the need to enlarge Activities for Daily Living required special design considerations.
Array employed a process-led design approach to guide clinical, therapy and cross-disciplinary staff through a series of mock-up exercises to simulate actual patient interactions. By mapping out current processes, physical space and patient needs, the team was able to integrate process improvements with JMCGH’s strong history of empathetic, patient-focused care.
When the project is complete, The Rehab Center of Excellence will bring physical rehabilitation to a broader patient base through expansion onto two floors and properly provide on-Unit therapy and activities for daily living regimens among other inpatient amenities.
