Challenge
Array was engaged to provide planning and design services to convert a two-story store / restaurant in a shopping center originally built in 1955, into a Pediatric Urgent Care and Rehab/Sports Medicine Center.
Solution
There were design challenges associated with the two-story space with priority items being proper building egress, heavy equipment reinforcement and floor-to-ceiling heights. Array took these conditions in to consideration and designed a space that provides patients and their families an inviting and safe atmosphere. By placing these often sought services directly in the community, Nicklaus Children’s Health System is providing a much needed service closer and more convenient to their patient base.
Result
This strip mall location now provides an ideal adolescent/child-friendly space for both scheduled patients (sports medicine / rehab) as well as urgent care drop-in patients. Array provided design features including discrete entrances, playful elevator lobby design and engaging waiting spaces.
