Challenge
Needing to upgrade their Outpatient Pharmacy due to increased demand, the VA asked Array to renovate the facility utilizing the patient centered philosophies promoted by Planetree. In addition, this was the first pharmacy to be designated a Pebble Project.
Solution
We worked closely with pharmacy staff to develop a lean workflow path that minimized foot traffic and staff fatigue. Recognizing that many of the pharmacy customers were disabled veterans, we worked to reduce physical barriers at dispensing positions without compromising security or privacy measures.
Results
Incorporating hospitality elements into the design and finishes, the new pharmacy improves processing times, increases accuracy, reduces patient waiting times and contributes to an enhanced patient experience.
