Challenge
As Array Architects refined its project delivery processes into a lean culture, our work environment had become a barrier with desks that were oversized and divisions in the studio that made collaboration difficult.
Solution
After an exhaustive search for the perfect location, the space was found. Drastic changes had to be made in five months to become the vision for the new era in the firm. Very few private offices were desired, and bringing natural light deep into the studio was a must. The office had to evolve into an open environment where teams can easily huddle and communicate.
Result
The primary design goal was to create a unique multi-functional space, offering a variety of workstation and group space options. The space creates a unique dynamic: an expression of our firm culture through interior architecture and design. Visioning / empathy mapping sessions with the entire staff were held where our team openly suggested ideas and dot-voted on design options. This effort became an opportunity to practice what we preach in creating a lean process with collaborative consensus-based design where all employees felt they had an opportunity to impact the design for the new office space. Staff moved to the office feeling invigorated and enthused to use their inherent creativity in the new space.
