Array was challenged with designing an addition to an aging hospital on a constrained urban site. The hospital’s goals were to enhance existing and new service lines, provide additional capacities and envision future expansions while creating a new public face identity for the facility.
We approached the project holistically and applied a Lean Design approach that aligned operations with limited site resources more efficiently. This strategy contributed to a more intimate knowledge of the institutional, staff, patient and community needs that also informed how we extended their brand.
Array designed an addition that offered a new front door to the facility. Service, staff, patient and visitor circulation were zoned to improve the patient experience & wayfinding, and correct operational defects while maximizing throughput for the entire facility.
